CTRL-F Reader (2005)
Ctrl-F Reader is a reflection and an application. It reflects on the changing reading practices in the age of mass digital text storage. It also serves as a tool for critical information consumption or an automatic executive summary generator.
The user types in a query and checks one or more information providers from the list. The reader searches the chosen platform for that query and extracts a textual window of 16 words around every occurrence of that query. The extracted strings are analyzed for their word frequency on three levels: frequency of that word in the extracted post; frequency of that word on all today's extracted posts from that specific provider. And the frequency of that word on all of today's extracetd posts on all today's results.
